Neighbors Together

Neighbors Together is a collaborative of community groups that works in the Healy field/Archdale neighborhood, operating under the umbrella of Healthy Roslindale. Joining the Coalition are Casserly House; Florence Apartments; Temple Vietnam; Southwest Boston CDC; Archdale Community Center and the Archdale Housing Development. The group meets to discuss neighborhood concerns and takes action to solve them. The collaborative enjoys support from City Councilor Rob Consalvo, State Rep. Willie Mae Allen and District 5 Police.

Real Teamwork by the Rossie Reps

Twice a year, in the autumn and in the spring with Boston Shines, residents join with community leaders and members of the Buddhist Community at Temple Vietnam for a neighborhood clean up. After dividing into groups of youth and adults and spending two hours cleaning, participants enjoy a luncheon of homemade ethnic dishes and food provided by local merchants. Tours of the temple and an overview of the Buddhist religion are offered. Many newcomers to the clean up marvel at the beauty of the temple and share beliefs and practices of their own religion.

On April 26 of this year, the group conducted the 16th semi-annual clean up, a tradition that started in the autumn of 2000 and is still going strong.

The 17th clean up is scheduled for Saturday, September 27 at Temple Vietnam, 68 Braden Street The day will consist of coffee and donuts at 9:30am, cleaning at 10am, tour of the temple at 11:30an and lunch at 12 noon.
